Self Help TV Broadcast

Self-Help TV Broadcast

Self-help TV re-transmitters are local community-based systems that allow people living in or travelling through regional and remote areas to access terrestrial TV broadcasts. We understand the challenges of providing and maintaining these services in more isolated regions and can help you with maintaining, improving and auditing self-help TV systems and other small scale broadcast infrastructure.

What

Self-help TV re-transmitters became more prominent after TV broadcast digital switchover initiatives, with some sites receiving Government support in upgrading or installing retransmission equipment. Whether looking at the costs and maintenance of these now ageing systems, or advising on new or future options and solutions we can help with:

  1. Routine system maintenance
  2. Advice on upgrade or replacement equipment options
  3. Most efficient way of obtaining content feed, such as satellite or terrestrial off-air options

Who

These small-scale broadcast services are particularly valuable in rural or isolated regions, serving small communities, where commercial broadcasters may not invest in infrastructure. Councils and community groups providing these services trust our approach, a balance of great technical and industry knowledge with an agile business model, allowing us to adapt to niche local requirements and challenges of remote working.

How

We focus on providing cost effective services, we understand and care specifically about service delivery in more isolated areas and providing the best possible vendor independent advice.

As ex-Regulators we understand the public sector owned environment that many of these systems operate within. As part of our regulatory consultancy and radiocommunications licensing activities we also maintain visibility of broadcast and radio spectrum related Government policies and initiatives that may inform TV site upgrade or lifecycle decisions.

Our People

Our team has extensive radio spectrum and broadcast sector skills and knowledge, we work with partners to resolve any remote area working logistics challenges.
